VP, Account Director

We are searching for a strong VP, Account Director to successfully lead our client account(s) by providing sound, innovative, and strategic leadership. This individual will be required to establish and maintain senior client level contact, leading to positive and effective relationships. The VP, Account Director will also play an important role in new business activities and initiatives. The VP, Account Director is responsible for client satisfaction, deliverables, and profitability of all assigned brands.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain client-valued relationships as a strategic thinker, problem solver, and team leader
  • Communicate a thorough knowledge of product information: science, marketing initiatives, competitive marketplace, market research techniques, promotional venues, brand strategy, medical/legal requirements, future challenges and opportunities (scientific, medical, industry or competitive issues) that will influence the brand
  • Monitor group productivity and profitability
  • Work with creative supervisors to initiate, develop, and maintain the best possible creative product.
  • Manage issues regarding timelines and cost efficiencies
  • Propose and supervise client relationship-building activities
  • Lead agency team in annual brand planning process
  • Build and support a strong and strategically focused client/agency team
  • Guide team members’ career path and skills development. Identify and recommend internal and external training opportunities
  • Coach and motivate Account Supervisors, and Senior Account Executives to effectively develop and nurture their direct reports
  • Conduct and coach direct reports and team members through regular feedback sessions
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • Develop, monitor and/or revise internal operating procedures with Project Management Department to ensure efficiencies
  • Identify and participate in the development of new project/business opportunities with existing or prospective clients

Skills Required:

  • Must possess a deep and thorough understanding of the pharma/healthcare advertising industry
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple clients and account teams
  • Marketing acumen and demonstrated experience in leading an integrated agency team in brand planning, budget development, execution and measurement
  • Demonstrated success at developing valued relationships with senior-level client management
  • Demonstrated success as strategic partner to clients
  • Digital and multi-channel experience
  • Must have participated actively in new business initiatives including planning and pitch presentations
  • Must have proven success at identifying opportunities and securing organic client growth
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Superior presentation skills
  • Strong financial acumen - demonstrated success in ensuring cost effectiveness and productivity

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of agency account management experience, with at least five years of pharmaceutical advertising experience
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience developing, producing and leading multi-channel marketing solutions required
  • Experience in at least 2-3 therapeutic categories, high science categories including CNS, neurology, oncology ideal. New business and product launch experience required
  • Candidates must demonstrate hands-on proficiency in developing and delivering presentations in PowerPoint
  • Must be open to travel as required from time to time

Note: A presentation to a group of peers will be required by the top finalists. The title of Vice President may be awarded based on merit and experience.
